    The Posiflex TP3100 was given a preliminary evaluation for it’s ability to function as a workstation running TouchPro.  Further development would be necessary before the Posiflex could be approved as a Touch Menus product.  The unit evaluated contained a Pentium-MMX 233MHZ processor with 32MB memory, a 4GB HD and an Award BIOS.
    CMOS

    Push Del on bootup to enter CMOS setup. Use the arrow keys to move between options and Page Up/Down keys to change options.
    Network

    The Posiflex comes with a RTL8139 Ethernet port which will work with Lantastic through an NDIS interface using the following commands:

        Config.Sys

        DEVICEHIGH=A:LANTASTIPROTMAN.DOS /I:A:LANTASTI

        DEVICEHIGH=A:LANTASTIRTSND.DOS

        AutoExec.Bat

        AI-NDIS BIND_TO=RTL8139_NIF

    Video

    The display is a 12.1″ active matrix 800×600.  TouchPro’s 640×480 display mode is displayed full screen, but with button images and other horizontal lines chopped up.
    Touch

    The Posiflex uses an Elographics touchscreen.  Use the following commands:

        ELODEV 2210,4,9600,5 -P- -C588,3661,3313,920,1,255

        NOMOUSE

        MONMOUSE -M6 -T+ -B+

    Power

    Power is provided by a Posiflex 20V 3.25 amp external power supply model F1960J.  A spring loaded slider on the right side acts as the power switch.  Sliding it forward toggles the power on and off.  If power is stopped externally, the switch must be toggled to turn power back on.  There is also an internal battery that can keep the system running for a few minutes if power is lost.  However, in testing, it did not supply enough current to boot the workstation on its own.
    Hardware

    The Posiflex is a single box unit, with an internal adjustment that allows the display angle to be set by a technician between 17 and 32 degrees.  The hard disk is internal and is only accessible by a service technician.
    Ports

    The Posiflex includes four DB9 COM ports, one DB25 EPP/ECP parallel port, one PS2 KB port, and an external floppy port, located on the back of the CPU behind a snap-off panel.  If touch is used, COM4 is unavailable.  If a customer display is used, COM1 is unavailable.
    Cash Drawers

    The Posiflex comes with two cash drawer ports for use with Posiflex cash drawers.  These ports are in parallel with COM1 and are triggered by ASCII 7 and 17.
    Customer Display

    An optional 2×20 customer display can be installed in the top rear of the main case.  The angle of the display is determined by the angle of the case.  It is driven by sending text out COM1.
    Mag Stripe Reader

    An optional mag stripe reader can be installed in a convenient pop out panel on the front.  When not in use, this panel can be closed to protect the reader.  Output from the reader is passed through the keyboard port.  It is configurable with a utility called TPW, but the default options are correct for TouchPro.

        * Initial writing based on preliminary evaluation.
