    Hub to Hub Network Cable
    Last edited: December 15, 2003 08:08 AM

This document describes the procedure for making an 8 conductor cable to connect two 10baseT HUB’s (or two ethernet cards). The pinouts are described as 1 through 8, Left to Right, if you are holding the male connector with the tab down, and the metal tabs pointing away from you.

8 — 4  (not used in standard Ethernet)

      | 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 |      7 — 8  (not used in standard Ethernet)

      |                |      6 — 2

      |                |      5 — 7  (not used in standard Ethernet)

      |                |      4 — 5  (not used in standard Ethernet)

            3 — 1

          |          |          2 — 6

                                1 — 3

Notice that the connections are not symetrical. This means that if the cable is used for other than standard ethernet, it might not be reversable.
