    Installation

          1.  From DOS type A: then INSTALL.
            2.  For Computer Name enter MAIN.
            3.  For directory accept the default of C:LANTASTI
            4.  On the next screen select Share Computers,Drivers,
                    and Printers.
            5.  Keep maximum nodes at 10    (default)
            6.  Do not choose any additional features.
            7.  Select OK to begin
            8.  For the adapter select WD8003    (bottom of list)
            9.  Choose”no printers or drives” setup
          10.  Select OK to perform install
          11.  Follow instructions on screen to insert the second disk.
    Configuring

          1.  If the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files were already
setup, restore them again by typing:
                    CD
                    COPY CONFIG.001 CONFIG.SYS
                    COPY AUTOEXEC.001 AUTOEXEC.BAT
            2.  If customer has more than one global printer go into
NET_MGR, select Server Startup Parameters, select Printing
Options, select Printer Tasks, and set to the number of
                global printers.

        3.  Removing internal share.  This will result in freeing up some conventional  memory.  DO NOT remove internal share if the unit is being used as a file server.File servers always require an internal share.

        Instructions:

        A.  Scroll all the way down to Internal Share:  Select to manage.

        B.  Press enter to disable Internal Share Support.

        C.  Hit escape to exit internal share.

        D.  Once you do this you’ll see in the in Approximate Memory Usage that the bytes in internal share are significantly reduced.

        4.  For each global printer go into NET_MGR and select Shared
Resources.  Press Insert, enter the printer name with an
@ sign appended to the front(@kitchen), and select the
        port it is plugged into.

        5.  To allow access to all print jobs, select Wildcard Accounts.
Then, with the asterisk(*) highlighted, press Enter.  Move
the highlight down to privileges and press Q to add the
        superQueue status to all users.

NOTES: LANTASTIC appears to be set in its defaults to accept up to 24
users.  To install more than 10 users, install as for 10, then
change server startup parameters in net_mgr to reflect proper
number of users.  If over 24 users then command line switches
must be used on the ailanbio command to change the ailanbios
settings. NOTE: any and all users past 10 users will use up
        much memory.

    Clearing Print Queue

Occasionally Lantastics print queue, which is actually a file on the
server, can become corrupted.  Symptoms of this problem include printers
printing garbage, printing continuously, printing old orders again, or
printing orders several minutes after they were input.  The fix is to
clear the print queue as follows:

    1.  On the server, exit to DOS and type SERVER /REMOVE.

    2.  Type NET_MGR.

    3.  Select Queue Maintenance.

    4.  Select Clear Print Jobs from the Queue.
Note: In version 5 this option is labeled Clear Spool Area.

    5.  When prompted, type YES and press Enter.

    6.  Press Escape repeatedly until back at the DOS prompt and reboot
        the server.

    Revisions

    8/3/98

      1. In the Configuring section, Removing Internal Share was added.
      2. Removing the Internal Share will free up some conventional memory.
