Win-EZ Printing is a Windows server application that allows Win-EZ POS Applications to communicate with TCP/IP remote printers. This document explains the basics involved in Win-EZ Printing. For more in depth information please refer to the documentation provided with Win-EZ Printing, and the setup programs for your printers.

    [b:26h4w2u7]OPOS[/b:26h4w2u7]

OPOS is an industry standard of communication between a P.O.S. application, and P.O.S. Hardware (In this case printers). OPOS serves as a generic link between the software and hardware from multiple vendors. It handles the decoding and interpreting of the information it receives from the software, and passes that information to the printer. It also passes information back to the software so that it knows the status of each printer (Out of paper, turned off, errors etc.)

Each printer attached to the system is assigned a Logical Device Name (LDN). This “Name” is then used for all communication with the printer. Win-EZ Printing is set to use 10 of these “Names”. Each name starts with a capitol “P” (for Printer) followed by the Printer Number 1-10, so that printer LDN’s are P1, P2, P3, and so on. This name will correspond to the Print Job names within Win-EZ POS.

Each hardware manufacturer provides a software utility for setting up their particular brand of hardware. This utility allows you to set up the IP Address, Model, and LDN for each printer, and then stores all of the information on the computer so that Win-EZ Printing is able to communicate with the printer. The Epson setup utilities are available from the [color=red:26h4w2u7][u:26h4w2u7][b:26h4w2u7]Downloads[/b:26h4w2u7][/u:26h4w2u7][/color:26h4w2u7][/url:26h4w2u7] page, and detailed documentation for their use is included in the Win-EZ Printing help file.

While there is no cost for Win-EZ Printing, it does require a license for Win-EZ Manager to be present on the system.

Also note that the HASP software protection device is not supported with Win-EZ Printing.
