Capture Utilities for TouchNet related products

    Last edited: December 15, 2003 08:07 AM

Included are the following 7 files:

      1. Capture.EXE – TSR to perform initial screen capture.
      2. Cap2PCX.EXE – Routine to convert .CAP file to viewable .PCX file.
      3. PCX-Head.BIN – Header for PCX files created by Cap2PCX.
      4. PCX-Prnt.BIN – PCX Header for 640 x 400 files.
      5. Cap2PCX.FNT – Font file used for text to graphics conversion.
      6. View.EXE – Command line .PCX viewer.
      7. Capture.DOC – this document.

The utilities can capture 90% of DOS text-mode screens. It is intended to  do so, with respect to the Special Tracking fonts that the TouchNet related  products utilize. For this reason, capturing of other DOS Screens may not result in an exact duplication. To solve this, future .FNT files could be created and supplied. Here are the steps to accomplish this:

      1. Load the Capture TSR by typing ‘CAPTURE’
      2. Navigate to the screens you wish to photograph.
      3. Press to capture photograph the screen to a .CAP file.
      4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 as many times as you need.
      5. Return to the Directory where these utilities are stored.
      6. Turn on your Scroll Lock light.
      7. Press to remove the TSR from memory.
      8. Turn off your Scroll Lock light.
      9. Type ‘DIR *.CAP”. You will see an 001.CAP 002.CAP etc for each screen you captured. These must be converted to .PCX format.
      10. *Type ‘Cap2PCX 001’ – (Use the number that corresponds to the file you wish to convert). The .CAP file will be displayed and saved as a .PCX file.
      11. **When the screen returns to DOS, the file will be available for viewing.  To check it, type ‘VIEW 001’
      12. Repeat steps 10 & 11 for each .CAP file to be converted.

    * Note: You may also type ‘Cap2PCX ALL’ to convert all .CAP files to .PCX format.

** Note: When using ‘View.EXE’ to view a .PCX that was created with the ‘/Print’ Option, the bottom 80 rows of pixels will appear to be garbage. This is not how the image will appear when you print it.
