The DataTran MultiLane (ML) E-Payment modem from Datacap Systems is used in conjunction with TraPr credit card software to provide integrated credit card services with Touchnet point of sale software. It has 20K of available data memory and can handle up to 889 transactions on a batch. It replaces both the DataTran 162ND and DataTran 162ND+ models.
InstallationThe DataTran connects to a serial port on the computer running TraPr using an MD8 Male to DB9 Female cable supplied with the DataTran. There is only a single phone jack to plug the phone line into, so if this is used in series with another modem, it must be the last device on the line. See the following section for details on programming the DataTran.
ProgrammingThe DataTran is programmed using information supplied by the customer’s credit card agent using the DataTran Parameters worksheet. The specific worksheet to use depends on the network used and the TOS and network versions preprogrammed into the DataTran. Current versions of the worksheet can be downloaded from the Datacap Systems website at [color=red:cffkdz00][u:cffkdz00][b:cffkdz00]http://www.datacapsystems.com[/b:cffkdz00][/u:cffkdz00][/color:cffkdz00][/url:cffkdz00]
The DataTran is programmed through TraPr by selecting the Network icon on the toolbar and entering the password touchm. On the Networks tab, select the network to be used (usually 002 VS2 for Vital), then press Load. When the network screen comes up, put a check for each credit card type accepted by the customer, and the network number in the right column. Note that EDC must always be checked and numbered, even though it does not always appear on the worksheet.
On the TIDs tab, enter the TIDs as shown on the worksheet. Watch the TID numbers on the left of the worksheet carefully. Some worksheets do not put the numbers in order, and some use several lines for a single TID number. TID numbers that are higher than what TraPr supports do not have to be entered and are ignored by TraPr.
On the Phone Numbers tab, enter the main and alternate phone numbers. When done, press Close, then say OK to save changes.
PowerPower is supplied by a Datacap Systems adapter AA-091A with rated output of 9VAC, 1A. There is no on/off switch. The DataTran can be reset by unplugging and plugging back in the power connector.
Version InformationVersion information for the DataTran preprogrammed information can be viewed by selecting the Diag icon on the TraPr toolbar. At the time of this writing the following information was current:
* TOS Version 3.50
* VS2 Version M3.89Revisions
12/11/02 rw
1. Initial writing.
