    EMAX Customer Pole Display

    Last edited: December 15, 2003 08:08 AM

EMAX manufactures a 2×20 pole display that can be used with Touch Menus applications.  It comes with a DB9 serial connector for connection to a serial port on the local workstation.
    Dip Switches

If not already set by the factory, set the dip switches as follows:

        Baud Rate Definition
1 – ON              sets baud rate to 9600

        Carriage Return Definition
2 – OFF              cursor always shifts to the left most position of the top row

        Serial Protocol Definition
        3-4 – OFF,OFF        1 start bit + 8 data bit + 1 stop bit

        Operating Mode
        5-8 – OFF,OFF,ON,ON    serial/terminate, Ultimate Mode

NOTE: The EMAX memorizes the DIP switch setting on power up.  If you change the settings, you must power down and back up.

    Styling

      1. Create a set of templates to display the images to be sent to the customer display.  Be careful not to add any blank lines to the templates, or to go past the 20th character on the two display lines.  Prior to the two display lines, all templates must begin with a line of text reading:
              ASCII: 31,20,17
These codes perform the following functions:
                31 – reset
                20 – turn cursor off
17 – set normal display mode
      2. In Printer Definitions, define a printer for the pole display with proper port and node assignments.
      3. Within the application, add Do Template and Print To instructions where necessary.

    Win-EZ Configuration

To configure the display for Win-EZ perform the following steps:

      1. Go into TM Config and edit the option for line 1 on the node attached to the customer display.  For T1 this will be option 4.  Set it to ASCII:31,20,17
      2. Go into TM Config and edit the option for line 2 on the node attached to the customer display.  For T1 this will be option 5.  Set it to ASCII:16,20
      3. If the display is to be connected to other than the default of COM4, go into Win-EZ Utility, run Edit-Lite Ports, and follow the instructions on the first screen to locate and set the correct port.  Note that the display names for T1 through T4 are CT1 to CT4.
