Hewitt Rand supplies a full line of 486 and Pentium CPUs. The motherboard has onboard disk and IO ports for LPT1,COM1, and COM2. It also contains PCI and EISA bus ports.
CMOS
Push Del on bootup to enter CMOS setup. Use the arrow keys to move between options and Page Up/Down keys to change options.
The following options should be changed from their defaults:
* Set BIOS Features – Boot Sequence to C;A;SCSI
* Set Power Management – Power Management to Disable
* Set Integrated Peripherals – Parallel Port Mode to EPP
Obsolete
This section contains information that is no longer current but may be needed when working with earlier manufacture Hewitt Rand CPUs.
1. AUTOSET.EXE must be present on the root directory of a boot disk or the TOOLS directory on the server.
2. In the AUTOEXEC.BAT add the following line prior to any network commands:
AUTOSET NO=1 INF=RJ45 MODE=MEMORY IOBASE=0x280 IRQ=5 ROMSIZE=DISABLE RAMBASE=0xD000 Note: For Coaxial cable use INF=BNC
3. Printer cables to com ports must have DCD jumpered to CTS on the CPU end.
4. MTMOUSE must not be loaded if there is no touch screen. Doing so causes garbage to print at the beginning of the ticket.
5. Network card should be configured for IRQ5
The current modem as of 1-09-1996 uses the following string:AT&F&C1&D2%C1Q3N3 and the modem is on COM4 IRQ3. This and other changes are on the HEWITT RAND install disks. Plus on the Workstation/Server SETUP disk there is a directory for HEWITT which contains the correct Autoexec.bat and the AUTOSET.EXE which would need to be copied to a standard workstation disk.
Revisions
