How to upgrade your Windows 95 HASP License Manager

    Last edited: December 15, 2003 08:08 AM

This document explains how to upgrade the Windows 95 HASP License Manager from v6.0? to v6.12.  Version 6.12 is necessary for any Windows 95 copy protected programs.

We will assume that you are upgrading a PC that is already running HASP License Manager version 6.0?.  If the PC is a new install, go back to the download area and download the full release of the License Manager.

Step 1  Download the upgrade patch.
Step 2 Save the upgrade patch somewhere on the PC running the older version of License Manager.
Step 3 Shutdown the HASP License Manager.
Step 4 The original install should have created the following directory structure:

Unzip the upgrade patch in the HASP folder.

    NOTE:

The patch contains files that belong in the subdirectories of the HASP folder.  To preserve the folder structure with WinZip be sure to “Use Folder Names” as shown below:

To preserve the folder structure with good old DOS PKZip, use the “-d” command line switch as shown below:

Notice the shortened name of the zip file?

Step 5 Install the new virtual device drivers. To do this, it is necessary to run the install program again.  It is easiest to operate from a command line.

      1. Click the Start button [img:2mecycpw]http://www.possupport.net/dealer/kbase/images/start_button.jpg[/img:2mecycpw]
      2. Click Run [img:2mecycpw]http://www.possupport.net/dealer/kbase/images/start_run.jpg[/img:2mecycpw]

You will now see a dialog box prompting you for a command line. Type the following:

            [img:2mecycpw]http://www.possupport.net/dealer/kbase/images/start_run2.jpg[/img:2mecycpw]

            (Don’t forget the quotes)

The installer will run and prompt you to restart the computer.
    Step 6 Restart the PC.

    You’ve completed the upgrade.
