    MJI Magnetic Stripe Reader KB2000-12

    Last edited: December 15, 2003 08:14 AM

The MJI KB2000 is a keyboard interface track 1 and 2 magnetic stripe reader.  Pictured is the model 12.  It also comes in black as the model 12B.  The KB2000 uses a PS2 jack with a Y connector to plug in a regular keyboard.  To work properly with Touchnet, it must be reconfigured from the factory defaults using the MSRSetup utility as detailed in the next section.

    Configuration

The KB2000 is set at the factory to provide carriage returns after each track.  This can cause it to only pass track 1, or to behave as if it was swiped twice, depending on how Touchnet interprets the swipe.  To configure the KB2000, use the DOS utility MSRSetup as follows:

      1. Run MSRSETUP and select 4. Setup magnetic stripe reader parameters.
      2. Select 2. Separator
      3. Press for none.
      4. Press to return to the main menu.
      5. Select 9. Download to MSR.
      6. Select 3. Keyboard interface
      7. Press
to exit, and when prompted to save to the file Castles.Map.

    Revisions

    12/13/02 rw

      1. Initial writing.
