MPO Videotronics LCD840 Dual Drive Thru Display

The LCD840 is an LCD display designed so that a customer at the drive-thru can see up to the last 14 items he has ordered along with a running total with tax.  When the order is complete a message showing the total along with instructions to pay at the window are displayed. After about 15 seconds, the message times out and a greeting message is
displayed for the next customer.  All text, with the exception of the menu item names, are preformatted by Videotronics.  The display comes with a DB9 serial connector but will need an adapter to plug into a COM port.

Software

Commands can be transmitted to the LCD via print templates.  Command
formats are all 40 characters as follows:

First Item Command – Clears display and then shows item.

                    12 character description
                    13 ignored characters
                    7  character dollar amount

Next Item Command  – Adds item to list.
                   

                    1,255,42,42,66,42,42,2
                    12 character description
                    13 ignored characters
                    7  character dollar amount

Tax&Total Command  – Transmits total for lower right corner of display.
                    Transmitted twice causes message screen w/total
                          to display.

                    1,255,42,42,84,42,42,2
                    25 ignored characters
                    7  character dollar total
