    Networking An Office Computer To A “TMCU” Touch Menus Control Unit

    This document will explain how to network your Win95/98 office computer to your Windows95 Touch Menus Control Unit “TMCU”.  It is not recommended that you try to network a Windows 3.1 or Dos computer to the Windows 95 TMCU.
    Setting up your TMCU to network with your Office computer

      1.On the TMCU click on the START Button
          a. Choose Shut Down
          b. Choose Close all programs and log on as a different user
          c. Type in the following:
              1. Username: Support
              2. Password: Touchm
      2. From the desktop Right Click on the Network Neighborhood Icon
      3. Select Properties
      4. Select the Configuration Tab
          a. The following Network components should be loaded:
              1. Client for Lantastic Networks
              2. AE-360PCI Ethernet (or equivalent network adapter)
              3. Artisoft Lantastic NetBIOS
              4. File and Printer sharing for Lantastic Networks
      5. You will need to add the following Network components:
          a. Choose Add
              1. Select Client
              2. Manufacturer Microsoft
              3. Client for Microsoft Networks
          b. Choose Add
              1. Select Protocol
              2. Manufacturer Microsoft
              3. NetBEUI
          c. Choose Add
              1. Select Service
              2. Manufacturer Microsoft
              3. File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks
      6. You should see the following network components installed now
          a. Client for Lantastic Networks
          b. Client for Microsoft Networks
          c. AE-360PCI Ethernet (or equivalent network adapter)
          d. Artisoft Lantastic NetBIOS
          e. NetBEUI
          f. File and Printer sharing for Lantastic Networks
          g. File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks
      7. Now you need to change the bindings of the protocols so they will work properly
          a. Click on the NetBEUI protocol to highlight it
          b. Click on the properties button
          c. Click on the Bindings tab
              1. Make sure that there are ONLY check marks next to the following:
                  a. Client for Microsoft Networks
                  b. File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks
              2. Choose OK to close this window
          d. Click on the Artisoft Lantastic NetBIOS protocol to highlight it:
          e. Click on the properties button
          f. Click on the Bindings tab
            1. Make sure that there are ONLY check marks next to the following:
                a. Client for Lantastic Networks
                b. File and Printer sharing for Lantastic Networks
            2. Choose OK to close this window
      8. Choose OK again and it will ask you to reboot the computer for the changes to take affect. Select YES

        Once the computer reboots log on as Support again
        a. Now lets set up the C drive to be shared
        b. From the desktop click on the My Computer Icon
        c. Select the C drive by double clicking on it
        d. With the folder highlighted Right Click on it
            1. Select Sharing
                a. Choose Shared As and it will type in C as the share name.
                b. Go to the Access Type and change it to Full
        ****DO NOT ENTER IN A PASSWORD AS IT IS NOT NEEDED****
        e. Close all of the windows now until you see the desktop.

    Setting up your Office computer to network with the TMCU

      1. From the desktop Right Click on the Network Neighborhood Icon
      2. Select Properties
      3. The following Network components should be loaded: (if they are not load them now as you did with the TMCU)
          a. Client for Microsoft Networks
          b. AE-360PCI Ethernet (or equivalent network adapter)
          c. NetBEUI
          d. File and printer sharing for Microsoft Network
      4. Close the window and let the computer reboot now
      5. From the desktop Right Click on the Network Neighborhood Icon
          a. Choose Map A Network Drive
              1. Choose N for the drive letter
              2. For the path type in the following \mainc
              3. Select Reconnect at Logon
          b. Choose OK and your all done now.
