    Running Manager and Editnet on a Novell Workstation

    Last edited: December 15, 2003 08:14 AM

    Lantastic can be made to coexist with Novell on a workstation as long as it has its own network card.  It must be loaded before Novell and avoid any of Novells redirections.  After redirecting to a Lantastic server Manager and Editnet can be run normally. A local HASP must be placed on that unit as Novell conflicts with the network HASP call.
    Hardware

    Network card jumpered to not conflict with the existing card.  Specific defaults to check for conflict are:
            IRQ=5
            IOBase=0280H
            RAM=D000-D1FF

    HASP programmed to run as a standalone.
    Software

    Install Lantastic for a workstation as you normally would.  Alter the AUTOEXEC.BAT as follows:

      1.  Before the commands to load Novell put these commands:
                  LANTASTIWD8003 IRQ=5
                  LANTASTIAILANBIO
                  LANTASTIREDIR (node name)

    2.  Modify the path command, adding C:LANTASTI and N:TOUCHNET.

    3.  After the commands to load Novell put this command:
            NET USE N: \MAINC-DRIVE

    MANAGER and EDITNET can now be run from the application directory on the Lantastic server MAIN as it would be from a regular Lantastic workstation.

    Note: Do not add the commands to load a Ramdrive as Novell provides a Z: drive through its own redirections.
