Installation

Connect a Dongle to the parallel port of each computer that will be running the software. Note that a Dongle is not needed on the file server if no executables are to be run on it. For DOS executables, install TmapHost, and on any Windows systems, unzip the dongle.zip file to a new directory, and run install.exe. See the sections below for details on each of these utilities.

TmapHost comes as a zip file. It works with Touchnet 6.11 or newer and is installed by unzipping into the Touchnet directory, overwriting the existing files. TmapHost 1.2 is backward compatible with the HASP.

Dongle installer

Do not attach the key until the installer instructs you.

Run install.exe, and follow the on screen prompts.

RAP 1.60

RAP is a utility for viewing, troubleshooting and reprogramming Dongles and HASPS. RAP 1.60 or newer is required to properly communicate with the Dongle. In a standard installation, it is usually found in the Win-EZ directory.

Reprogramming Dongles

Dongles can be reprogrammed to add new licenses onsite. Reprogramming is done as follows:

  1. With the Dongle plugged into the parallel port, run RAP.
  2. Note that -KL– will appear in the top right corner of the screen, signifying that a Dongle has been detected.
  3. Select Generate Request Codes and write down the string of numbers displayed on the screen.
  4. Send the numbers to an authorized agent of Hospitality Data Systems Inc. software, along with the ID number printed on the Dongle itself.
  5. When you receive the authorization codes, again run RAP.
  6. Select Enter Authorizing Codes.
  7. Select Enter by Hand.
  8. Key in the authorization codes.
  9. When done, press Esc.
  10. If no error appears, the codes have been entered successfully and you are done.

Troubleshooting

If the software does not receive an authorization from the Dongle, it will generate an error message. Error messages differ from program to program, but usually refer to a problem with the HASP, authorization device, or TmapHost. Any of these terms mean there is a problem reading the Dongle. To fix the problem, perform the following steps:

  1. Reseat the Dongle on the parallel port and reboot the computer.
  2. If the problem is still not fixed, run RAP and check to see if the –KL- symbol is in the top right corner.
  3. If it is not, skip to step 6 below.
  4. Run View Current Authorizations and see if the license for that software is on the license. If it is not, contact an authorized Hospitality Data Systems Inc. agent to obtain a license.
  5. If the license is readable on the key by RAP, the hardware is okay, but the necessary software has not been installed. See Installation for more information.
  6. If the key is not readable, then either the key is bad or the parallel port is bad. Move the key to another computer and run RAP there.
  7. If the –KL- symbol is visible now, the parallel port on the original computer is bad and will need to be repaired.
  8. If the symbol is still not visible, the key is bad. Contact an authorized Hospitality Data Systems Inc. agent to obtain a replacement.
