    Tony,

What version of Manager are they running? Unless it is a 2.33.16 or 2.33.18 Beta I don’t think it’s the problem, but it’s worth asking.

Did this always happen, or did it just start?

Let me know, and I’ll follow up on this with Mike, and Randy.

    Not a problem!

Glad to hear that you got it corrected.

UAC is the User Account Control feature that protects from unauthorized app installation, or elevation of apps to admin privileges without the users knowledge. It generally manifests itself as a pop up that asks if you want to allow an application to perform some task, and usually only occurs during application install, or when you need to access an admin only section of Windows.

    Tony,

Is this after installation, while trying to start manager? Also have you disabled UAC in Vista?

If this is the case then you should be able to go to the Win-EZ Manager.exe in the “Program FilesWin-EZ Manager” folder. Right click on the exe, and run as administrator. You should only have to do this on the first run, since manager needs to write some registry entries on startup. It may be that you have to turn UAC back on, reboot the machine, and then run as admin once to get past this issue, but I believe that we have been able to get around this problem as described above.

Let me know if this does not fix the issue.

    Tony,

The size is controlled in code on a printer template. I have forwarded your request to Randy, and he is going to add a setting to control this. It will be available in a future release of POS, but I currently do not know when.

The check number is rolled over based on a setting, but be aware that it must be high enough so that they do not roll any checks over in a single day. In other words if they have it set to 999, they should not exceed 999 checks in one day. Doing so creates some reporting issues since there are 2 checks with the same # in the same day, but more importantly if they have an open check, and get back to the same number in rotation, the original check will be lost.

With that in mind: This setting is available in Win-EZ Manager 2.33, but 2.33 is currently in BETA testing, and will not be fully  released for a while longer. In the mean time you can edit Global.dat in the client directory and change the line with code 9 like below.

    9,”9999″

set this line to 999 or whatever value you want the checks to roll over at (99 minimum)

    9,”999″

Just make sure that the information stays on one line.

If you don’t feel comfortable editing the file, send it to me, and I’ll change it and send it right back.

    Tony,

The manual for Win-EZ Manager has been dramatically updated for the upcoming 2.33 release to include much of the information scattered in other manuals. That said, I know that the coupon information is in the POS Manual here[/url:18n340ym].

The manual is also available as a PDF in the Win-EZ POS Downloads section.

Feel free to post with any questions that the manual does not answer.

    Tony,

I’ll forward that request to Mike. It may be something that is supported, or can be supported easily enough.

Just wanted to point out that there is now a board available for this purpose:

    Bryan.

Just to clarify, the root cause of the issue is that we use the “Notify Icon” function in the User32.dll that is part of the Windows API to get the icon into the system tray. If Windows Explorer Crashes, then all of the icons that were placed in the tray by User32 will disappear from the system tray, and are not automatically replaced when Explorer restarts. This issue affects all versions of Win-EZ Printing, and Win-EZ Credit Card (along with any other apps that use the same function).

I spent this morning working on the libraries that we use to handle previous instance and the system tray icons, and have reworked the logic in several routines so that double clicking the icon on the desktop will bring the current version of the application out of the system tray and onto the screen. I also reworked the applications so that the icon is recreated each time the program is sent to the tray.

I will release V1.12 of Win-EZ Credit Card, and V1.05 of Printing this week to address this issue.

My main concern with this happening often is that there is a larger issue with the windows installation that is causing Explorer to crash. I would look at the Windows logs to see if there is any indication of what is causing Explorer to crash.

    Bryan,

That feature is already implemented in Win-EZ Payment Server. I thought that we had added it to Credit Card for retail sites, but I just pulled the code and it is not there. We should have Payment Server into a couple of beta sites in the next few weeks, and released by the end of the year. Payment Server will add a number of new features, including off line processing, and NETePay alternatives, along with moving the management and reporting into Manager.

    Bryan,

Don’t worry about over posting, I’m exited to see things starting to pick up here!

I’ll answer this in two parts:

During the Win-EZ Manager install when the wizard asks for a database, you can provide the path to a local database backup(one  that you created from within Win-EZ Manager). This was designed to allow you to substitute your own “Master” databases during the setup. Feel free to post, or contact your support person if you need more help with this.

That being said: The concept here is sound, and I think that having different databases available to dealers is a great idea.

Making dealer created downloads available from within Win-EZ Manager would create several issues, from managing the file names and downloads, to having to wait for new releases of Win-EZ Manager.

I think that the best way to handle this would be to have a section of the forum here where you can post databases that you think would help other dealer, and request databases from others.

I’ll give others a day or so to chime in on this, and then I’ll set up a section on the forum.

Feel free to post back, or contact me directly about this.

    Bryan,

    Thanks for the post!

This is a feature that Randy and I have discussed in great detail several times. We do plan on implementing user configurable order types at some time, but I can not say when at this point.

On a side note, If you have a single terminal, or specific terminals for the sushi bar, then you can do a filtered report by terminal. You can also filter by employee, or job type (such as sushi server). Or a combination of these items. If you need help with creating filtered reports, feel free to post in the Manager forum, or give your support person a call!

I do realize that sometimes the order type is the easiest way to accomplish this type of filtering, and I will forward this request to Randy.

    Peter,

    Thanks for the request!

I understand how this would make trouble shooting easier for the support tech, and the end user.

I have added this feature to the Change Request Database for Win-EZ Printing. No promise on timing, but next time I work on printing I will add it.

In the printing section of Win-EZ Manager, it is a little harder to do from a coding standpoint. I have spoken to Randy about it and we will add the feature, but it will be a while before we get it added.

Zone Alarm has a good one, and offers a free version for home use. A hardware firewall is always the best choice.
